What to do in Glasgow when it rains

The weather forecast for this coming weekend doesn't look great, but that doesn't mean there is no fun to be had in Glasgow.

Glasgow is awash with culture and history which makes it a great place to explore come sun, rain or shine. The Riverside Museum, Tall Ship and Gallery of Modern Art are great places to explore for all the family and have previously been highlighted on our blog.

Kelvingrove Museum
Today we'll look at the splendour of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is worthy a whole day's visit. With displays designed with children in mind with lots of interaction throughout the museum, there is loads to keep young and old entertained and enthralled all day long.

Kelvingrove's famous Spitfire
With 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries displaying an astonishing 8000 objects, the collections cover:

  • natural history
  • arms and armour
  • art from many periods of history

As well as these, Kelvingrove boasts a real Spitfire suspended from the roof! But the Spitfire is not the only object suspended from the roof...all we'll say is 'mind yer heid!'

Kelvingrove also boasts two great cafes to keep your energy levels topped up.

So, if the weather takes a turns for the worse, then head to Kelvingrove. You'll be struck by the beauty of the building on the outside and will be filled with wonder and inspiration on the inside.

But the best bit? It'll keep the kids busy and ensure they're ready for their beds at night. Sounds perfect!
