Glasgow hosts The European Museum of the Year

European Museum of the Year
We've mentioned before how great the Riverside Museum in Glasgow is, but it seems it is not only us Glaswegians who know about it status.

The Riverside Museum has just been named The European Museum of the Year at an award ceremony in Belgium.

Situated on the banks of the River Clyde with great views over Glasgow's fine river, the Riverside Museum opened in June 2011 to showcase the city's transport, shipbuilding and engineering heritage. It certainly does that and has something from everyone - granddad will remember the trams and the kids will love the interactive displays.

But it's not just what is inside the museum that makes it such a great attraction. With its prominent riverside position, the building, designed by award-winning architect Zaha Hadid, boasts some of the best angles for photographers of Glasgow's riverside with the large glass frontage reflecting the equally stunning Tall Ship, almost bring the ship straight into the heart of the museum.

Now that it is official, there is little left for us to say, other then next time you're staying with McQuade Hotels, make sure you factor in a trip to The European Museum of the Year.
